The proposal is for the development of an IoT-based smart pill box that will monitor patients’ medicine-taking patterns, guide patients to take their prescribed medicine on time, and track medicine-taking patterns in real-time. The project aims to improve medication adherence among elderly patients who frequently forget to take their medicine on time, which leads to negative consequences. The project will be led by Abid Hussain, a final-year student at Sukkur IBA University, and supervised by Dr. Suresh and Dr. M Waqas Soomro.

The smart pill box will use IoT connectivity to monitor the dispensing of medicines from the box at scheduled times, guide patients to take the prescribed medicine, track medicine-taking patterns, and configure dates and generate text through the cloud and send it to caregivers and doctors.

The proposed Smart Pill Box will provide an effective Healthcare/IoT gateway for patient care, enabling real-time access to medical information. The project will contribute to SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being, by improving medication adherence and reducing negative health consequences associated with forgetting to take medication on time.
