Grandmother In Need of Home

I’m Mia, and my grandma Terri is currently 64 and sleeps at the very end of her daughters couch. She has little to any personal items and has little to any access of being out and about. She does not own a vehicle and is fearful of driving do to the cataracts in her eyes. She relies on her daughter, but even still she hardly ever gets to leave the house. At this time she is being forced to move out before winter hits. My grandma has disability because her spinal disc disease but, it only covers several hundred dollars, which is nowhere near enough for her to live anywhere, even in the cheap state she’s in. Her whole life she’s dedicated herself to helping others as a caregiver, mother and grandmother. She has quite literally traveled across the country, dropped her life TWICE, to help out our family members, but now she’s left with no one to help her out. She talks of living in the woods in a tent and it makes my heart drop. No one should, especially the elderly, resort to living in a tent. The harsh winters would be unbearable for someone of her age. Let alone how many miles she’d have to bare to get to a local store with extreme back pain. All I want for her is a place to call home. Where she can host Christmases and birthdays like she wants and to garden in the summer until her days end. I’m hoping to raise enough money for a mobile home or a very small house for her.

Last July, she moved out of state to come and live down with most of our family. She was happy and going out but was couch hopping for her sister back to her brother every week. Eventually December came along and my sister desperately needed help babysitting kids (she’s a single mom)  because of her pregnancy. My grandma felt so bad my sister had no help and returned back to the Midwest. Unfortunately, her living situation didn’t work out and she ended up living with my Aunt (her daughter) again. This time no bedroom, only the couch, because of Terri’s absence, her old room was filled. During this time she has become very depressed and feels as if she’s a burden, but I want to ensure her that her existence is meaningful and she deserves a place to call home, once and for all. She is too old to be moving every few months and needs stability.
