I thirst for College!
Addiction is a monster that can take over one’s life without warning. I’ve been to the depths of different kinds of addiction, and it has completely destroyed my career. Brown sugar, cannabis, alcohol, and much more- all of them have left me a shell of the person I used to be. The physical and mental effects of addiction are no joke. I’ve lost jobs, relationships, and opportunities that I’ll never get back, all because I couldn’t control my own behaviour. Addiction doesn’t discriminate; it affects people from all walks of life. The trauma of losing a parent at a young age can have a profound impact on a person’s life. For me, the absence of my Dad left a void that was difficult to fill. I was lost, struggling to find my place in the world without his guidance and support. In my desperation, I turned to substance abuse as a way to chase away the pain and numb my emotions. Addiction is often viewed as a moral failing, a lack of willpower or self-control. But the reality is that it is a complex disease with many contributing factors, of which trauma is one. When we experience a traumatic event, our brain chemistry is altered in ways that make us more susceptible to addiction. We may seek out substances as a way to cope with our pain, or to feel a sense of control in a world that seems chaotic and unpredictable. Acknowledging the root causes of addiction is an essential step towards recovery. Healing from trauma takes time and effort, but it is possible. For me, it was only when I confronted the pain of losing my Dad that I was able to address my addiction and take the steps necessary to overcome it. Education is essential, and it’s a lifelong process. However, sometimes we need assistance to reach our educational goals. It could be due to financial constraints, academic struggles, or numerous other reasons. Seeking help and support shouldn’t be a shameful act, but unfortunately, the reality is different. As someone who’s continually seeking help for my education, I have faced many rejections. It’s disheartening to ask for aid and receive a “no” in return.
I would like to go to college but I am not able to find sponsorship!
