UNICEF, in a 2009 report highlighted that over 1.9 million people in the North east due to armed conflict are displaced and sixty percent of the affected individuals are children.

This is an indication that, the children are vulnerable, lack basic amenities and are disadvantaged without access to conducive health care, shelter, balanced diet, clean water and enabling learning environments and resources.

In a recent report by Sahara reporters, in 2022 over 150,000 internally displaced children in Benue restlessly roam their IDP camps and suffer from mental health issues .

This implies that these kids lack basic educational activities that stimulate and engage them. An idle child will not live to his or her full potential.

This fundraiser is in a quest to assist the author Samuel Ubong to print and distribute 2000 copies of his book: Nipsey the Ginger Cat Book 1 to kids in internally displaced communities (IDPs), disadvantaged schools and educational platforms lacking literacy resources across Nigeria (Northeast, Middle-belt, North Central ) areas.

About the Book
It is curated for age ranges 3-11. The book has colourful illustrations, rhymes and poetry, activities such as fill in the jugs, rhyming words, synonyms and antonyms that challenge vocabulary development, crossword puzzles, mazes, and spaces for creative writing and independent thinking that inspire learning in and out of the classroom.
